Graphic artists can play an important role in public health. Image from The Stranger

For the third year, Key Arena hosted the Seattle/King County Free Health Clinic. Over 4,000 people waited in line for hours for basic health care services and cartoonists documented it (The Stranger Nov 2016).

Graphic story telling has a way to increase the visibility of the great work being done by the the volunteers at the free health clinic. Maybe it will convince government officials and voters that more can be done to assist those whose lives could be greatly enhanced by giving them some care and respect. I hope you take time to read these cartoons. Then, I hope it convinces you, in whatever city you live in, to donate your time or money to help improve the lives of those whose healthcare needs are not being met.

[Update: Directly helping those who need assistance via volunteering or donating doesn’t scale. You can only do so much. But you can influence public policy. See Real Numeracy, Apr 2020.]
